With all of the different ways to promote your business online, it can get pretty overwhelming, so we, here at Elizabeth Jamey Consulting, came up with 7 Surefire Ways to Promote your Consulting Business, so enjoy J.
Tip #1: Facebook Page – Instead of just having a personal page, start a business page as well, that way you can promote your company (without annoying ALL of your friends), you can promote other consulting companies, and you can also share information with other people.
Tip #2: Twitter Account – Don’t just use this to re-tweet other’s tweets, and/or to tweet random nonsense. Try creating your own hashtag (my company uses #EJC, for their hashtag), and make sure you tweet at least 3 times a day.
Tip #3: Blog – A blog allows you to share your expertise with other people. Nowadays a lot of website hosting sites are including a blog with your website, so you could always start there, or if you want, you can try Google (link to it) or WordPress (link to it), which are free and very easy to customize and publish content to it.
Tip #4: LinkedIn Account – While you should already have an account (if you don’t, you need to have one ASAP), you might also want to look into starting groups and organizing questions, topics, and in-person meetings.
Tip #5: Website – Whether you pay for a domain (Vista Print or GoDaddy.com), or use a free site, like WordPress, a website is a must have. Make sure you use tags appropriate for your business and your field.
Tip #6: Consulting Associations – Depending on what field you are in, you may need to be certified in certain areas, in order for you to be considered legitimate, so make sure you look into what types of certifications you may need. Tip #7: Event Speaking – This is one of the oldest and best ways to network. What better way to show off your skills and your company, then to be an event speaker or a conference vendor.
